Minutes

1. Information: when sending emails to alle_vip, your department head does not get it - so please remember to send mail to Peter as well, if he needs to receive the mail.

2. New Procedures for Project and Thesis Exams, Summer 2017
Hanne: teachers have requested that SAP handles the organization of thesis and project exams
SAP will from now on contact the external censors and they will coordinate so the cesors can do several exams on a day

3. PhD students supervising speciale projects
Probably not as a first-year PhD students but there are exceptions – associate professors can work with PhD students on supervising

4. Research Groups, Labs and matrix organisation..
A center needs to attract a much higher amount than a group
Center: 3M external income/year
Group: 1M external income/year
TIME and TiP would probably be type B groups
Marisa: a type B attracting multiple funds across several members, can they become a center?

5. Department budget 2017.
From the maintenance budget most is spent on expected items (like travel reimbursement, consultants etc)
DIMS is another large bullet on the budget

6. ForskerForum interview FYI see pp. 8-9
Interview on the PP model
Mads Tofte: the pp model is a point of discussion between the VIP and their manager

7. The C-group's task is "to clarify which courses the new Computer Science Department should offer the study programmes not owned by this department; as well as what the process should be for continuously adapting the course list to match the competence requirements on the various ITU study programmes and reap synergy effects across programmes." (quoting from the project brief).

What are the requirements of GBI and DIM in terms of programming
Marisa, Lars Rune and Peter take part to convey their interpretation of what the needs are

8. DIM report discussion
Marisa’s presentation:

There are new admission requirements to DIM – students have to have some level of experience in social science etc.
More co-taught courses (TIME and TiP)
We need to discuss what the technical skills should include – In the C-group we should also discuss ‘what do we consider technical’?
New since last presentation: timeline for revision of DIM (see ppp) – implementation in December
Who is interested in participating in a working group to revise DIM? Please contact Marisa.

9. DDK and SDT revision FYI
Lene Pries-Heje does a quick presentation
It has been decided to do a redesign of the two programmes

DDK: the employment rate isn’t satisfying
Too much overlap between BSc and MSc programmes
Same timetable as Marisa just showed for DIM
Students start on revised programme in Summer 18
Less focus on communication

SDT:
Two tracks:
Design track: students with no programming background
Technical track: students with programming background
Problem: the employers don’t know what type of graduates they get form this programme

Issue: will we keep both lines?
We will apply for a new computer science programme (Technical track) – it includes a very formal process
Issue discussed in the group: How do we teach technical skills to non-technical students?

10. ITU leads DK in H2020 grants see https://en.itu.dk/about-itu/press/news-from-itu/2017/itu-has-a-danish-record-in-attracting-eu-funds

11. SPARKIT, 4 of our VIPS that have not yet attracted (substantial) external funding with extra, ad-hoc support making it possible for them to attract external funding, each has been invited to pitch to EM and RS, these are Marisa Cohn, Oliver Muller, Rachel Douglas-Jones, Vasiliki Baka
Group of Managers’ initiative: identify 10 early career individuals across departments – they will pitch projects to the group of managers
It will probably be a reoccurring thing but we don’t know yet what the outcome will be

12. Business IT weekly lunch in Scrollbar?
Maria will ask FM about Tuesdays
